Cherry Lollipops

With valentinesday around the corner I always see a lot of big red lollipops in the stores. They are really cute and tasty but what about making them yourself?

Sandra Lee of Semi-Homemade Cooking on the Food Network has made a really easy to follow recipe. Within 20 minutes you will have your very own lollipops!

Quilling Vallentine card

Another Martha Stewart Valentines card. This card is made with quilling.

It's beautifull and really special but it's not easy to make. So you have to save some time to make this card. But if you do, you have something really special!

Valentine!

In two weeks it will be valentines day. So from now you really have to find a proper gift for your loved ones. And because I want to help you with that I'm going to show you in this weeks before valentines day a few options of handmade gifts. Because nothing is as personal and unique as a handmade gift.

Today I want to start with this beautifull card. A valentines day without a card is not complete. So here is a beautifull card from Martha Stewart.

Marshmallow Fluff recipe

Some of those delicious recipes I find on the internet have marshmallow fluff as an ingredient. Unfortunatly I can't get it here. This recepy is for those who have the same problem.

Ingredients

3 egg whites
2 cups light corn syrup
1/2 tsp salt

2 cups confectioner's sugar
1 Tbsp vanilla extract

Directions

In a large bowl, combine egg whites, corn syrup and salt. Mix with mixer on high speed for 10 minutes (or until thick). Add in icing sugar. Beat on low speed until well blended. Add vanilla and mix until blended.

It's now ready to use or store. This recipe may be frozen for later use. Remove from freezer and stir until fluff is mixed. It can be kept in the refrigerated for up to 1 week. Stir well with a spoon before serving

**You can use this in any recipe that calls for marshmallow creme/fluff.
Equivalents:
1 tablespoon Marshmallow Cream = 1 large marshmallow
3 oz Marshmallow Cream = 85g = 1 cup Marshmallow Cream
7 1/2 oz Marshmallow Cream = 200 g = 2 1/2 cups = 32 large marshmallows
16 oz Marshmallow Cream = 450g = 5 cups = 5 1/2 dozen large marshmallows

'Vintage' apron

I love to cook and to craft. So aprons always come in handy. And I love them! A girl can never have enough aprons!

Almost all of my aprons (And I've got a lot of them) are handmade. This one will be the next one added to my collection. I found this apron as a tutorial on the Etsy blog. Don't you just love the vintage look of it?

Don't you just love this salt and pepper shakers? I do! They are made out of blank nesting dolls. Off course you can make them also out of recycled regular Matroska dolls. Now you will never have to wait for the salt because every family member can get their own shaker.

Non-traditional bookshelf

Who said you need bookshelfs to store your books?? That's so yesterday.. Today we use wooden crates!

You don't need to be creative to make this one. You just need a few (or a lot) wooden crates. Put them on top of each other and you've got your non-traditional bookshelf!

Coat cussion

Pillows are one of the things that really makes your home look welcome and finished. You can get them in many colors and shapes. But making your own, very unique, cussion is even better than buying!

Cussions aren't hard to make. If know how a sewing machine works you will make one in no time. The cussion above is made from an old coat! Isn't that unique and beautifull? You can also use scarves, sweaters and old curtains.

So be creative and recycle some old coats and sweaters on the way!

Homemade cookie cutters

I love baking cookies. But sometimes I want to make extra special ones with a special shape. Not the usual hearts and stars. But where do you go to find that cookies cutters?

Well, you make them yourself! Juggling Frogs came up with a great tutorial on how to make your own cookie cutters out of a foil pan. So now I can finaly make a cookie in every shape I want!

Paper chandelier

Again a lovely design of mister Jeffery Rudell: a paper chandelier! You've got to have a lot of patience to cut this all out but then you've got the most wonderfull chandelier!

DIY String lamp

Today another great lamp you can make yourself! The lamps you can see in the picture are not only beautifull but also really easy to make.

ReadyMade has always beautifull ideas, but sometimes they are just perfect. This is one of that perfect ideas. It's so easy to do your self and so beautifull. I just love it!

Jeffery Rudell has made a wonderfull post on CraftStylish. This idea is so great and easy to make I'm just blown away.

Jeffery designed and made a snow flake curtain that looks like a snow storm. It's so simple to make. You just need two things: dental floss and simple round labels.

Recycled bag

ThreadBanger is one of my favorite websites. I love the DIY video's they make. And there are every week new ones to look at.

This is a video I still love very much. Here Corinne makes a really lovely bag out of recycled clothes she picked up from a thrift store. She makes it looks so easy, everyone can make it!

How cute is this? Don't you love the looks of this adorable chipmunk? Make it your self!

This chipmunk softie is made out of recycled gloves! And is not that hard to make. Have you lost one glove of a pair you can recycle that glove in to this cute softie. Yes that's true, you just need one glove!

If you have kids you probably know how much fun buntings are. The most fun are the ones you make yourself. This way you can give a very personal touch to every celebration.

The minute I saw this lamp I just had to make one myself. I don't have the time right now but I am gonna make him.

Don't you think this lamp looks likes it has cost you over a $100,-? Think again. With a little bit of do it yourself you could make this lamp all on your own for under $12,-! Doesn't that sound great??

A nice idea from DesignSponge: A serving platter whit twigs! And offcourse you can make it all yourself!

I love the fact that this platter is so natural with the twig in the middle and at the top. It gives your table a really nice and natural look.

No one has enough scarves. At least, that's my opinion. I love scarves and I'm whearing them a lot because I'm always cold.

Penny floor

Somethimes you look at an design idea and you can just think: Wow! That was wat I thought when I saw this badroom floor.

I like this idea because it's so simple and cheap (I mean there are a hundred pennys in a dollar) but still so original and beautifull. It must be a lot of work but I really like the result!

Unique DIY rug

On the Apartment Therapy website I found this great rug you can make your self out of several smaller rugs! Isn't it beautifull and unique?

I love the look of the red tread on the light blue rug. But you can combine a lot of different collors. Just create your own unique rug! This rugs are really cheap and you can get them at stores like Target or Ikea for under $5,- a piece.

Jenn Ski

I love the art prints you can get on Etsy.com. And I absolutely adore Jenn Ski. She makes great giclée prints who are a lot cheaper than the original Jenn Ski pieces.

These beautiful digital prints are made available on archival quality, 100% cotton rag, acid-free paper, and are printed using UV-stable pigment inks. Each print is individually signed and numbered by the artist.

This one is one of my favorites. It is called: Home Sweet Home and has a retro feeling to it. You can buy this art piece and other art pieces at the Jenn Ski store at Etsy.

Carpet headboard

On the ReadyMade website I found a few really interesting ways of using carpet and carpet tiles.

I absolutely love this headboard. Whit a few carpet tiles you could make this for under 20 dollars. Perfect for people who like to sleep close to the ground or don't have the money for a complete bed. Just put your mattress on a slatted bed base and ready is your bed!
